Germans are selling 300.000 old cars that nobody wants

We love them: In Croatia, more than 87 percent of used station wagons have diesel engines. But, it seems that their days our numbered – Munich and Stuttgart are banning those produced before 2014

Around 3750 used station-wagons are found on Njuškalo. Most bidden car is VW Passat Variant (10,28 percent), followed by Renault Megane Grandtour (6,35), Škoda Octavia Combi (6 posto) and Opel Astra (5,94). Njuškalo compared this year's ads for most selling models manufactured in 2011. with the ones from 2015. The price for Astra station-wagon has decreased 14 percent, for Megane 15, Passat 17 and for Škoda Octavia 28 percent.

In August this yeas among those models manufactured in 2011. the cheapest one was Megane. The owners asked for 56.000 kunas for it. They asked 1000 kunas more for Octavia. Astra was priced 62.000 kunas and Passat almost 86.000 kunas.

The average age for station-wagons on Njuškalo is 10 years. That's interesting because average car that drives on Croatian roads is 13 years old. Deawoo station-wagons manufactured in 1999. are the oldest one in the advertisement section. That's actually perfectly normal because the Korean brand hasn't existed for years.

The youngest station-wagons are Kias, and are approximately five years of age. Among the most frequent station-wagons the youngest are Škodas Octavia with 7,3 years of age, but their owners didn't spare them a bit. They have a mileage of 150.000 kilometers, more than 20.000 per year.

Volvo station-wagons are least likely to buy. They are approximately nine years old and have traveled only 136,000 kilometers. The Mercedes is the closest to Škoda. In nearly 11 years, they have average mileage of 202,000 kilometers.

Even 87 percent of the used station-wagons currently being sold have a diesel engine. Of course, this is no wonder because they are often bought by craftsmen and entrepreneurs, as well as hobbyists, such as hunters and fishermen, who are driving a lot and are prepared to pay more for a car, but spend less for the fuel. In future, there could be more diesel engine cars on our roads, because there are 300.000 used diesel cars for sale in Germany. Only a few Germans want to buy it due to the affair with false pollution results and because of the future ban on such cars. Their price is reduced up to 30 percent.

Used cars from Germany are highly appreciated in our market because of the general belief that the Germans regularly maintain their vehicles and do not drive them too long, because they are getting a new one every few years. But nowadays, older diesel cars from Germany could flood our country, cause German manufacturers have granted aid to those how buy new passenger cars in order to sell their old diesel cars. Depending on the value of the purchased model, the price can be reduced between 2000 and 10,000 euros, and the aid is also offered by the manufacturers of the most prestigious personal cars, such as Mercedes, BMW and Audi.

The times are getting hard for old diesel cars, as Munich and Stuttgart are banning those manufactured before 2014. Some of the older models are going to end up in Croatia.

Regularly maintained Hyundai Atos was sold in only 33 minutes after posting it for sale on largest advertising web site Njuškalo. It was the older model, and the price was only 500 euros. The cheapest car sold on Njuškalo in August was registered Citroen AX. It was sold for 2000 kunas.

Among 25.000 car ads, around 1750, or 6,99 percent, is for Volkswagen Golf. It is followed by BMW series 3 with 2,35 percent, Opel Astra (2,17) VW Passat (1,89) and Renault Clio (1,79). Audi A3, VW Polo, Opel Corsa, Mercedes A and C class are on the top 10 list. A total of 799 models are for sale. The most expensive used station-wagon on Njuškalo is Audi RS TFSi Quattro with 560 horsepower. It is sold for 866,000 kunas. Only 14,000 kunas more is asked for the most expensive new station-wagon. It's the Volvo V90 Cross Country D5 AWD A / T8 Inscription. The most expensive car in general is the Aston Martin Vantage V8 GT8. From 2016., he was driven only 10 (?) Kilometers and the owners are selling it for 2,818,611 kunas.
